Hello.. I am currently in India, and wont be going to Cambodia until June, but I want to know if it is possible to get a visa to Cambodia on the boarder or should this be arranged in Bangkok or something like this?? I'm only planning to stay a couples of days, 8 days tops..

Is it possible?

Thanks

  • No trouble at all if you pay up... except that the fare should be less than $20. So you just paid $15 to the extortionists (the parasites who intimidate drivers willing to transport travelers at an honest price). No problem if you don't mind paying, but for budget travelers that's the cost of 3 nights in a guest house.
  • Do an archive search of other travelers' hassles if they try to negotiate a lower fare without the Poipet taxi mafia taking their cut from the driver, which you ultimately pay.
  • If you're doing a Cambodian "circuit" and you're going to do travel the Poipet - Siem Reap road, I suggest one should do it in reverse: Siem Reap TO Poipet. Enter Cambodia via the south at Koh Kong or fly in to PP first . The taxi mafia haven't got a monopoly on fares out of Siem Reap TO Poipet... it was $4 by bus SR to Poipet last year.
