Internet access on tourist visa in Japan
From Wikivisa
[edit] Question
I really, really want some kind of internet access while I stay in Japan (in an apartment, Nagoya) for 3 months on a tourist visa this fall.
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. With only a tourist visa, I know my cell phone choices are limited. But perhaps some company offers a pre-pay or rental that gives an interent connection?
Note: I am definitely not talking about using my cell phone to browse/use mail. What I need is to be able to hook up my laptop to something with a signal that connects to the internet, so I can get online with my laptop.
I own an NTT line, but I'm not sure if it's worth re-activating as then I'd have to get a high-speed provider, both of which are fine by me but I think you'd need to have a gaijin card for either or both of these procedures, no?
If anyone has any knowledge at all, I would really appreciate any leads.
Thank you very much.

I moved recently and like Glenski said, it took me about 1 month to get internet up and running at my new place. However, that was the best month I've had in a long time. Having no internet for a month was the best! I read more books, did more studying, did more exercising.... realized how much time I waste online every day. It's only 3 months; I highly recommend visiting internet cafes once a week to get your internet fix, but try living off the grid for a while. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
